Introduction：褐稻虱成虫和若虫均能为害，多聚集于稻株基部吸取汁液，阻碍水稻的生长，为害严重时，稻丛下部变黑褐色，渐渐全株枯萎。水稻孕穗期受害后往往不能出穗或成“包颈”的空粒穗；抽穗后被害，则影响谷粒饱满度，千粒重下降，造成严重的减产。在取食期间，褐稻虱易使稻株发生煤烟病。此外褐稻虱还能传播水稻病毒病。
